With such a line-up, one might expect an improbable musical outcome. But that’s before hearing the overwhelming, psychedelic, psychotic, deranged, dangerous, and above all, unusual energy of Crystal Fairy. The idea for Crystal Fairy was born when the bands Melvins and Le Butcherettes toured together, and the Melvins began playing the song ‘Rebel Girl’ with Teri Gender Bender from Le Butcherettes at the end of their set. Teri sings, plays guitar and keyboards, Omar is on bass, Buzzo on guitar, and Dale on drums. It’s simple, solid, and perfect. The members collectively have about 150 years of musical experience and perhaps 40,000 records. A lot. And yet, Crystal Fairy is a different, special project that offers a new dimension to what these four musicians do… an incredible combination of punk, metal, psycho rock, blood rock, and furious rhythmic excitement.
