"Ellengæst" has the daunting task of following up 2018's acclaimed "Great Escape". While this new album doesn't try to sound like its illustrious predecessor, the particular circumstances of its creation would have prevented it anyway... On the first day of recording, CRIPPLED BLACK PHOENIX suddenly found themselves without a singer or keyboardist. While this kind of setback would be enough to sound the death knell for most bands, band leader Justin Greaves took the opportunity to draw on his vast network of musician friends. Very quickly, several prominent guests answered the call and brought their vocal talents to "Ellengæst": Vincent Cavanagh of ANATHEMA, Kristian "Gaahl" Espedal of GAAHLS WYRD, Ryan Patterson (COLISEUM, FOTOCRIME, and occasional live bassist for CBP), up-and-coming British artist Suzie Stapleton, and Jonathan Hultén of TRIBULATION.
