Lust for Life, Or: 'How To Thread The Needle And Come Out The Other Side To Tell The Story' is an album centered on duality. The intention is to bring together everything Courting has created so far into a concise and impactful record. Each track on the album is "paired" with another, evolving within the same universe. For example, the introduction and conclusion of the record share the same string melody: the first serves as an orchestral opening, while the second transforms into a frantic dance-punk track. Similarly, tracks 2 and 8 reuse the same drum and string samples, but transform them into entirely distinct entities: one oscillating between 2010s dubstep and a noise band covering a Small Faces track, the other being a multi-part ballad, blending autotune with a striking saxophone solo. The goal is clear: Courting balances the indie and pop songwriting of its previous albums with its most experimental moments, every detail more refined than ever.
