On Like That, the genius behind Cool Sounds, Dainis Lacey, also sheds his band facade. He plays almost everything on the record, with a little help from friends including multi-instrumentalist Dylan Young, saxophonist Pierce Morton, and German-born singer Ambrin Hasnain (with whom Dainis also plays in Partner Look, signed to US label Trouble In Mind). Previous albums have skillfully evolved through indie-rock, smooth 80s pop, and nostalgic alt-country, with a lightness that belies Lacey's sardonic and insightful songwriting.
