Christian-Pierre La Marca's first recording with naïve is an artistic gesture of rare strength and scope: Cello 360 broadens the horizons of a polymorphic cello, demanding yet always singing, to offer an unprecedented journey. The French cellist enjoys traversing different genres – baroque, classical, film music, pop, and electro – several eras – the 17th, 18th, 20th, and 21st centuries – and various playing techniques – sometimes recording multiple voices that, once layered, create polyphony, a multiple cello experience at 360 degrees in time and playing styles. Christian-Pierre La Marca presents here a very personal reflection, rhythmically interspersed with baroque pieces (for viola da gamba), modern and contemporary works, innovative for the instrument, groundbreaking for the repertoire, stimulating for the performer, and fascinating for the listener: Marais, Purcell, Telemann, Sainte-Colombe, Dowland, and Rameau intersect in a carefully crafted order with Grieg, Chaplin, Dutilleux, Escaich, Ligeti, Casals, The Beatles, and Sollima, as well as an electro creation made with Rayann and M.A.S. during the lockdown in March 2020. "I love the cross-sectional and multi-genre aspect of this album," confides the cellist. "I find it exciting to move from one style to another, to create connections where there are none. It reveals the infinite possibilities of the instrument." This project will also be the subject of numerous concerts throughout the 2020-2021 season and beyond, starting on November 28 at La Seine Musicale.
