Numerogroup, the prestigious soul/funk reissue label, is now delving into 90s American alternative culture! The three albums by the cult slowcore band CODEINE, signed to Sub Pop and led by the prolific Chris Brokaw, Stephen Immerwahr, and John Engle, are being reissued. Frigid Stars (1991), Barely Real (1992), and The White Birch (1994) received rave reviews upon their release, but the band broke up before the more established successes of LOW, BEDHEAD, and RED HOUSE PAINTERS. These three albums are being reissued in a 2LP+CD format, which includes detailed liner notes, essays by Sooyoung Park (Seam), Alan Licht, and Wayne Coyne of THE FLAMING LIPS, singles, demos, live tracks, and Peel Sessions, all remastered from the originals. An ultra-limited version includes 6LP+3CD.
