Cluster II

Description

Cluster is among the most important international protagonists of the electronic avant-garde. Some consider them the inventors of ambient music, others as pioneers of synthesized pop, while still others see them as deeply rooted in the krautrock universe. There is a grain of truth in all these claims. Cluster (or Kluster originally) was founded in 1970 in Berlin by Conrad Schnitzler, Hans-Joachim Roedelius, and Dieter Moebius. A change in direction and musical differences led Moebius and Roedelius to separate from Schnitzler. The duo subsequently recorded ten regular studio albums between 1971 and 2009. Their first album ("Cluster 71") appeared on The Wire magazine's list of "One Hundred Records That Set the World on Fire." "Cluster II" is influenced by Berlin and Hamburg; situated somewhere between artistic happenings, musical excess, and drug addiction: an urban blend.
