In 1985 Claude Nougaro no longer has a record label. He sells his house in Montmartre and goes to New York to record an album under the direction of Philippe Saisse: Nougayork. Huge success, this record will revive Claude Nougaro's career. Recorded with renowned American musicians (Nile Rodgers, Marcus Miller, Nick Moroch, Mark Egan...), the album was awarded in 1988 by the Victoires de la Musique for best album and best artist. In 1989 Claude Nougaro settles this time in Los Angeles and records "Pacifique," an album with a dream cast: Jeff Porcaro, Paul Jackson Jr., Paulino Da Costa, Ernie Watts, Alex Acuna, Abe Laboriel... Claude Nougaro will then conclude his American period with a legendary concert: "Zénith Made In Nougaro" which features a Best of his two American albums as well as his greatest classics.
