Drawn from Forever Overheard, a short story by David Foster Wallace from the collection Brief Interviews With Hideous Men, the song "New Fragility" documents what happens right after a long relationship comes to an end, and what one discovers shortly thereafter. The album offers some of Alec Ounsworth's most successful vocal expressions to date: a shimmering sound that shifts from a lament to a deep growl in the blink of an eye, an expressive instrument that fits perfectly among the divinely crafted orchestration. For over 15 years, it has undoubtedly been one of the most remarkable voices in the indie scene, and it has never sounded so rich and balanced!
