What is old is new again. On May 28, 2021, Ventura, California’s masters of chaos heavy metal, Cirith Ungol, return with a very special EP titled *Half Past Human*. The world was ravaged by a pandemic in the wake of the band’s triumphant comeback album, *ForeverBlack*, in April 2020. Carefully laid touring plans were dashed. As time stood still, Cirith Ungol dug deep into their archival crypts, pulling back the veiled mists of history to expose long-forgotten jewels from their storied past. In doing so, the band exhumed four songs written in a bygone era but never included on their legendary discography. Cirith Ungol dusted off these precious relics, breathing life back into long-dead forces. Each song has been reimagined for today, injected with a new shot of power and vitality while retaining their signature mysticism and remaining imbued with a sinister, apocalyptic energy. Recorded under the watchful eye of producer Armand John Anthony (Night Demon / Bewitcher / Gygax) in the darkness of 2020, *Half Past Human* promises to be a treasured addition to the musical collections of Cirith Ungol’s loyal legions. As is tradition, the package is capped off by stunning cover art from famed fantasy artist Michael Whelan, from the original Elric series.
