Sony Classical presents the 5th installment of the complete cycle of Anton Bruckner's symphonies by Christian Thielemann with the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra. It constitutes the first cycle of Bruckner performed by the orchestra under the direction of a single conductor. The Vienna Philharmonic has premiered four of Anton Bruckner's nine symphonies, including the fourth in 1881, and has maintained a unique relationship with the music of the Austrian composer since 1873. For the 5th Symphony, Thielemann approached the ideal sound of Bruckner with the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra as closely as possible: a full, warm sound, whose recordings are full of countless colors, clear without being harsh and well-defined without appearing angular.
