Description
A gifted guitarist, Chris Staples has spent a large part of his career accompanying other artists. He has notably played with J. Tillman, later known as Father John Misty, and toured worldwide with Telekinesis. As an itinerant carpenter, Staples found himself doing work for Josh Rosenfeld, co-founder of Barsuk Records. One thing led to another, and with the help of Matthew Caws and Michael Benjamin Lerner from Nada Surf, his album *American Soft* was released on Barsuk. Staples composed *American Soft* while squatting in the abandoned bungalow where he grew up in Pensacola, Florida. The ideas developed within are both diverse and coherent, and the lyrics are direct yet impressionistic.Buy American Soft at the best price
