Start fresh
Description
Start Fresh, the first album by the band Chlorine Free, is irresistibly effective and genuinely refreshing in its optimism. This record is unclassifiable and elusive; blending the science of groove (Funk), the spirit of freedom and virtuosity of soloists (Jazz), and a real focus on production and experimentation in sound processing (Electro). This album is essentially the sum of the influences of a new generation of passionate musicians, drawing from Oscar Peterson, Money Jungle, Vinyl, vintage sound and instruments, the Jazz-Funk scene of the 70s with Herbie Hancock leading the way, the American and European Hip-Hop scene spanning the last three decades, the new "Beat Makers" (from Dre to Miguel Atwood Ferguson), the entirety of Black Music, and also all the Electronic innovations, led by the Warp label, but also Ninja Tunes, etc. In short, Start Fresh is the work of enthusiasts. As Master of Ceremonies, Virgile Lorach, whose bass playing is impressive, surrounds himself with soloists all from the Jazz-Funk universe: Davis Monet (Clavinet-Moog / Funky Skunk, The Name...), Yann Crazy Flute (UHT° / Why Cie / Minimal Orchestra...), Romain Clerc-Renaud, a young discovery to watch from the jazz department of the CNSM in Paris, and scratcher Doc Jones, remarkable for his brilliance and modernity. The album also features notable guests, like godparents of this first newborn: Mixing by BOOSTER, a great pioneer of French Electro-Jazz with his cult album Loops in release (Blue Note). Appearance by Black Sifichi (Spoken Word), a DJ performer and slam poet who brings together the groove, free jazz, and electro-acoustic experimentation scenes, and, the icing on the cake, a feature from rapper Raashan Ahmad, a figure from the Crown City Rockers, who has just been discovered in France with a first tour supported by Radio Nova. Start Fresh, decidedly fresh, will undeniably make your smile whiter and your dance moves funkier. The extraordinary instrumentation: a bass-drums section honed to perfection, two virtuoso keyboards with vintage sounds (Rhodes, Clavinet), a trombone soloist, an absolutely wild flutist, and an outstanding DJ, delivers an unprecedented exploration of groove and sound textures, somewhere between Hancock, Beastie Boys, and Squarepusher. The discovery not to be missed.Buy Start fresh at the best price
