Chet Baker Quartet Vol. 2 (Chet Baker in Paris Vol. 2)

Description

In 1955, the crooner and trumpet virtuoso gave a series of intense concerts in Paris that left a lasting impression on genre connoisseurs, and, above all, ignited the intimate and unique relationship that the French public and Chet Baker would maintain throughout his career. Signed to Barclay for the occasion, these live performances showcase the mastery of his art by this unique artist. During this series of live shows, France discovered a sensitive and touching artist who had made jazz his sole means of expression. On this second volume, recorded on October 24th, just three days after Twardzik's death (due to an overdose), Chet leads his quartet with only Jimmy Bond from his original trio, the young French pianist Gérard Gustin, and the Swedish drummer Nils-Bertil Dahlander. Given the context, they fall back on standards. Discover this gem of the genre on 180-gram vinyl edition.
