Chet Baker - & Jack Sheldon. Best Of Friends: The Lost Studio Album
Description
Event for all Chet fans: the discovery of a previously unreleased studio album from 1972, long lost, and carefully edited by Elemental!"One day in the summer of 1972, Jack Sheldon had an idea: 'Think Chetie, what if we made an album together.' Chet liked the idea, but was still hesitant. To put him at ease, the producers assembled a superb cast of musicians. They surrounded Chet with friends like Dave Frishberg on piano, Joe Mondragon on bass, Nick Ceroli on drums, and my father on guitar. Since this was Chet's first recording since his violent altercation in 1966, they wanted to keep a low profile and chose United Audio as the recording studio. The sessions went well, and once the mixing was finished, my father took the tapes to Los Angeles to market them. Several record labels were interested, but on September 20, 1973, he suddenly died of a heart attack. The tapes were stored in our garage in Lido and were never released. Until today. After 50 years of storage, we can finally appreciate and celebrate this long-lost gem of an album." - Frank Marshall
