Here is the ultimate collection of Mozart recordings by Sir Charles Mackerras and the Scottish Chamber Orchestra for Linn. With nine symphonies and the Requiem, this box set illustrates why Mackerras has been acclaimed as one of the greatest Mozarteans in the world and why the SCO is internationally recognized as one of the best chamber orchestras. Mackerras's recording of Mozart's last four symphonies (nos. 38–41) has won numerous awards: the Classical BRITs Critics’ Award 2009 and the BBC Music Magazine Disc of the Year and Orchestral Awards 2009, while his recording of symphonies nos. 29, 31 ("Paris"), 32, 35 ("Haffner"), and 36 ("Linz") was named Symphonic Recording of the Year at the ECHO Klassik Awards 2011. The collection is completed by Mackerras's first recording of Mozart's Requiem, featuring a team of exceptional soloists led by mezzo-soprano Catherine Wynn-Rogers and soprano Susan Gritton.
