Vinyl Story

Description

Gifted with extraordinary talent and tenacity, Charles Aznavour climbed the ladder of fame with difficulty, but never retreated. His skill allowed him to reach a near-absolute peak of worldwide renown, at least for a Frenchman. Drawing on multiple influences – Armenian through his family, Jewish through his childhood, jazz through his idols, realistic through his chanson mentors – he created a body of work with an original tone that appeals to an extremely wide audience, particularly women. This anthology brings together fourteen essential tracks from the period that forged his temperament and talent, during which he sought and ultimately found his path, between rhythm, sensuality, and nostalgia. In a sixty-year career, Charles Aznavour starred in some sixty feature films and composed the music for several others. He even wrote the screenplays for two films: "Les intrus" (1972) and "Yiddish connection" (1986). He composed over a thousand songs, singing in five languages (French, English, German, Spanish, Italian). Today, the most famous French singer worldwide, he has sold over 100 million records.
