She revisits little-known treasures originally recorded by Hot Lips Page, Tiny Grimes, Blanche Calloway, Cab Calloway, Helen Humes, Eddie Barefield, her father Luis Russell, and other great figures.Daughter of visionary pianist, bandleader, and composer Luis Russell and innovative singer-guitarist-bassist Carline Ray, Catherine Russell claims this repertoire as a natural heritage.
