Description

Set in the early 1950s, Lessons in Chemistry follows Elizabeth Zott (played by Brie Larson), whose dream of becoming a scientist is put on hold in a patriarchal society. When Elizabeth is fired from her lab, she accepts a job as a host on a TV cooking show and sets out to teach a nation of forgotten housewives — as well as the men who suddenly start listening to her — far more than just recipes. A heartfelt and emotional reflection on the heroine's struggle to conform to societal expectations, the series benefits from Carlos Rafael Rivera's optimistic, subtle, and cautious musical score, supported by the cast's strong performances. The series received 10 Emmy Award nominations, including two for Carlos Rafael Rivera in the categories of Outstanding Music Composition and Outstanding Main Title Music.
