Correlations (on 11 pianos)

Description

ENREGISTRÉ SUR 11 PIANOS DIFFÉRENTS, 'CORRELATIONS' DU PIANISTE COMPOSITEUR CARLOS CIPA EMBRACES OUR IMAGINATION AND INVITES US TO CONTEMPLATION. FROM RELAXING "MODERN PIANO" BETWEEN MAX RICHTER AND NILS FRAHM Avant-garde composer and pianist from Munich, Carlos Cipa delivers us 'Correlations (on 11 pianos)', his fourth album, the second with Warner Classics. Carlos Cipa is part of the family of classical musicians whose horizon has expanded to neo-classical forms. Recorded on 11 different pianos (Bechstein, Steinway, Pleyel, Yamaha...) to vary the colors and atmospheres, the 16 tracks of 'Correlations' ignite our imagination and invite us to contemplation. "I find it fascinating to see how different each piano is from the next," explains the 30-year-old composer from Munich. "Some instruments really open your creativity. Playing on many different (pianos) is the best way to find new ideas. [...] It's this fascination that drives the 'CORRELATIONS'. Having started playing very young, [...] CIPA launched his recording career in 2012 [...]. Since then, he has expanded his artistic range, collecting instruments and building his own studio, culminating in the 'Retronymes' of 2019, an album he describes as "dedicated to the idea of creating my own sound world." With this new version, however, he decided to return, in a sense, to his roots. "I wanted to simplify the process," he says, "by focusing again on the piano, but spreading the concept."
