Based on The Hunter's Bride, libretto by Johann Friedrich Kind, it is by blending ghostly personifications while addressing the theme of the supernatural that Weber creates his masterpiece. Marek Janowski delivers a new interpretation for Pentatone with his usual brilliance, following a premiere presented in 1821 by the composer. Lise Davidsen, Andreas Schager, Sofia Fomina, and Alan Held make up the cast of singers in this German romantic piece.
