Description

An album in three chapters, LIBEROSIS is the provisional culmination of Canblaster's quest, an 18-track meditative epic mixed by Steve Dub — known for being the sound engineer for his role models, The Chemical Brothers. LIBEROSIS plays with pop codes as well as club music, drum'n'bass, 2-step or dubstep, twisting their narrative and exposition modes, while questioning the concept of the drop and obedience to machines. Evolving in an intermediate space, neither purely functional nor ever conceptual or "meta," this is a record that conjures landscapes between world's end and rebirth, hope and fate, haunted by vocal fragments uttered in an unknown but precious language, where flashes of video game soundtracks such as Final Fantasy emerge. A world animated by both human desire and technical genius, reminiscent — more in spirit than in the music itself — of Yellow Magic Orchestra and the late Ryuichi Sakamoto.
