Carnaval pour deux

Description

In 2021, Renaissance de l’Orgue decided to create its own record label through sponsorship. As with the previous CD, featuring Frédéric Rivoal, this time it is not the organ of a Bordeaux church that is highlighted, but an organ from the south of Gironde: the Annessens-Cogez organ of the Saint-Sauveur and Saint-Martin church in Saint-Macaire. After its restoration by Bernard Cogez, this organ was inaugurated in 2022. For the first time, the ROB Records label invited two young artists from the rising generation to record this CD. They are Mélodie Michel and Maximilien Wang, who perform works for 2 and 4 hands on this instrument. They have chosen pieces from the second half of the 19th century. The first half of the program consists of transcriptions, particularly The Carnival of the Animals by Camille Saint-Saëns. The second half features works by Guilmant and Dubois, and the program concludes with the famous Toccata from Widor's 5th Symphony.
