Calvin Russell's legendary 1990 live performance in Kremlin Bicêtre on vinyl!
Calvin Russell was born in 1948 and started playing guitar at 12. He spent about ten years in prison in the 1980s for marijuana possession and minor offenses. After numerous odd jobs, he performed with his band in bars around Austin. Here, we discover the recording of his first real concert, which took place in November 1990 in Kremlin Bicêtre, a suburb of Paris where the New Rose record label had its French headquarters at the time. The album "A Crack In Time" had just been released. This 1990 live album is a success. The tracks played are raw and unpolished, and Calvin's bourbon-honed voice is punctuated by lead guitarist Gary Craft, who fearlessly launches into biting and inspired solos.
