For 20 years, CALEXICO has continued to break down musical barriers, embracing multiple styles and a variety of instrumentations, with their blended Americana of the wide open spaces as the highlight—a fantasy of multicultural America. For this new album, JOEY BURNS and JOHN CONVERTINO drew inspiration from Mexico City (and its mariachis), a city they had strangely never explored before. It is also the most collaborative album in the band's history, with a multitude of contributions: SAM BEAM (IRON & WINE), BEN BRIDWELL (BAND OF HORSES), NICK URATA (DEVOTCHKA), NEKO CASE, SERGIO MENDOZA, and the members of TAKIM (a Greek instrumental group).
