The Burning Hell has been writing festive hymns about the apocalypse long before it showed up at the party. With Ghost Palace, the band delivers its most joyful collection of songs about death to date, always ready to crack a smile in the face of decay. The lyrics by Mathias Kom, highlighted as if with a fluorescent marker, take us on surprising detours through pop culture, the animal kingdom, history, architecture, and science fiction. Between pathos and irony, between the sublime and the trivial, Ghost Palace finds moments of humor and beauty in the muck. However, this album does not dwell directly on the end of the world; it assumes that our time is limited and instead focuses on what we leave behind, what might endure, and the surprises we might uncover in the remnants. Memory and the questionable utility of nostalgia are central themes, punctuated by the underlying idea that we may still carry within us the small seeds of possible redemption, through community and balance. The Burning Hell will be defending Ghost Palace on stage throughout 2025.
