The opening track, “Miel,” pulses with the simplicity of an early-era Masters at Work or vintage Kevin Saunderson, while “Dame Mas” further ups the energy. Miami bass and West Coast electro influences shine through on “Maya” and “Love Me Right,” which pair sharp beats with a multitude of samples pulled from Brown Angel’s record collection. “PBE” and “En Movimiento” take the Planet Rock vibe to the next level, blending contemporary cumbia and reggaeton influences with Brown Angel’s gothic-Latino touch. Each copy comes in a sleeve designed by Ricardo Diseno, illustrated by Teen Angels, a popular Chicano magazine from the 1980s. *Pure Brown Energy* injects a sense of urgency onto the dance floor, unapologetically exploring the connection between creation and loss, celebration and sorrow.
