THE REISSUE OF THE CULT INDIE ROCK BAND'S 4TH, 5TH, AND 6TH STUDIO ALBUMS AN UNRELEASED COMPANION EP FOR EACH ALBUM FEATURING 5 ALTERNATE VERSIONS AND 1 COVER WITH THE PARTICIPATION OF GILLIAN WELCH, DAVE RAWLINGS, BECKY STARK, MARIA TAYLOR Cult indie rock band Bright Eyes continues the reissue of its 9 albums, enhancing them with a series of Companion EPs, each comprising 5 new versions of songs as well as a cover of a track from that era. Bright Eyes was formed in 1995 when 15-year-old Conor Oberst met producer and multi-instrumentalist Mike Mogis and composer, arranger, and multi-instrumentalist Nathaniel Walcott. Over the past 23 years, the impact and influence of their music have been considerable; their songs have been covered by dozens of artists, including Lorde, The Killers, Mac Miller, Dave Rawlings & Gillian Welch, Phoebe Bridgers, Jason Mraz, and Beabadoobee. It is the desire to celebrate this rich sound that excited the band, but it wouldn't be a Bright Eyes project if this moment dedicated to the past wasn't transformed into an opportunity to connect with the future. This is where the EPs come in, a complementary reading of the reissues. The Companion series gives them a chance to revisit some of their past works and rework them, with the participation of Gillian Welch, Dave Rawlings, Becky Stark, and Maria Taylor.
