THE BRAND NEW ALBUM FROM THE STRAY CATS' LEADER
Brian Setzer, iconic guitarist and singer of the Stray Cats, returns with his first solo album in 7 long years! The first single, "Checkered Flag", sets the tone. It is co-written by Setzer and his Stray Cats bandmate, Slim Jim Phantom. The album, indeed, offers a feast of classic rockabilly at its best! We find Brian Setzer at the peak of his career. The album was produced by Julian Raymond (Glen Campbell, Cheap Trick) and was recorded in Minneapolis (Setzer's adopted city) and Nashville. It's a fiery record from start to finish with dynamic and defiant songs.
Regarding the title, Setzer declares: "Obviously, it's a reference to my motorcycles and hot rods, something that hasn't changed since I was 15. I still have the same passion for speed and adrenaline. But it's also about my hearing problem with tinnitus - the ringing in the ear. It was pretty bad, and I realized I couldn't play the way I wanted to. While I was recovering, standing in front of a small amplifier wasn't enough. The sound of my big amp makes the guitar roar. Which is a big part of my sound. I was really depressed for a while because I thought I wouldn't be able to do it anymore. So, 'Gotta Have The Rumble' refers to both of those things."
