EMPIRE SOLDIERS LIVE (double vinyl)

Description

Back to October 2013. Almost a year and a half ago, the entities Vibronics and BrainDamage blended their respective worlds for a project that went far beyond a simple encounter. United around a dual concept that brought together two schools of mixing with very different sensibilities, French dub and English sound system, the artists evoke the experience of Anglo-Caribbean and Franco-African soldiers during the First World War, with unparalleled narrative power. A delicate and little-explored subject, for which Brain Damage and Vibronics had the good sense to gather guest poets, historians, and musicians from the countries featured in the album: Senegal, Morocco, Pakistan, and the Caribbean. But the collaborative project didn't stop there. With the idea of memory and transmission conveyed by the Empire Soldiers concept, a tour was organized in 2013 and 2014, bringing Brain Damage and Vibronics together many times for concerts that made a lasting impression on a rather young audience, who discovered an often overlooked part of their history through explosive performances. There were nearly 49 dates, including 8 appearances at renowned festivals: Dour Festival, Reggae Geel, Télérama Dub Festival, UNOD Weekender, Fusion Festival, Riddim Collision Festival, Seasplash Festival, and Mundial Festival. Empire Soldiers even toured in Europe. The Empire Soldiers tour was thus a significant event in itself, which motivated the release of a live album to immortalize the ephemeral nature of these performances. By recording the sounds distilled during their joint tour, the combination of the two artists goes further and takes another step to engrain the history of these forgotten heroes in people's minds.
