After a critically acclaimed first album in 2011 (the superb Native Speaker) and just months before the release of their new album Flourish // Perish, Montreal's BRAIDS treat us to the wonderful EP In Kind // Amends. After 18 months of intense touring, and following the departure of one of its members, the group locked themselves in their studio for an entire year to craft these new tracks, whose sound is decidedly different from their beginnings. While Native Speaker was composed in an organic, live environment, the group approached the creation of this new album with a more introspective and electronic songwriting approach.
