It's as we hoped and feared! Box of Chocolates' 'Fearful Symmetry' is back among us. On the cover of this re-release it reads: "This is not vinyl. This is a story." Here it is. It wasn't the 90s yet, and everything that has happened since, in music or not, had not yet occurred. As it was still the 80s, the possibilities were endless! This is the story or the record of a group of people with artistic leanings, who accidentally found themselves living together and decided to record that experience in the form of songs at 140 Plymouth Street in Dumbo, Brooklyn. Incredible names were in the credits - Burte Rake, Mickey Hawaii, Wayne Oliphant - and these names are also featured in the brand new artwork for this opus. The visuals have been re-adjusted and the tracks have been reordered, in places. "Stigmataphoria" and "The Past Lives of Clarence Thomas," which largely echo the spirit and intent of the original songs, have been added for the greater good of all. And the names of the authors, singers, and performers of the songs, including Michael Howe, Will Oldham, Arnie Wobble (from early Phish), Tony Award-winning Michael Chorney, sound artist and ethnographer Rob Millis, and others we won't mention, also appear for the first time. All accompanied by retrospective notes. These songs and ideas were assembled to form a loose collection of indie rock, roots-rock pastiche, punk brilliance, and cinema-fed abstractions!
