Bongeziwe Mabandla, the new face of Afro-Indie, is back! With "AmaXesha," his fourth album, South African artist Bongeziwe Mabandla establishes himself as the leader of an Afro-indie sound that is finding its audience worldwide, offering one of the most unique musical styles around. Already a multiple award winner in his home country, with two South African Music Awards (SAMA) for Best Alternative Album to his name, Mabandla has been touring Europe for five years. His new album illustrates how music can be invoked in new ways, in new places, for new audiences. "AmaXesha" (meaning "the times" in Xhosa), the work of the enigmatic soul of African soul (as Mabandla is nicknamed), addresses themes of time and romantic compatibility. Written in the midst of the Covid pandemic while South Africa was in lockdown, Mabandla's album is the result of introspection on the importance of connection, particularly on how this need can lead us back to the same types of experiences and outcomes in our romantic relationships. This is what he calls "our life loops."
