Description

Bon Voyage Organisation (BVO), a variable-geometry group founded and represented by Adrien Durand, has released its second album, entitled La Course. On this record, the group takes a jazz turn while retaining the Neo-Disco grace that is their trademark. A true kaleidoscope of influences, from the spiritual jazz of Pharoah Sanders to the ambient Fourth World of Ryuichi Sakamoto, "La Course" is above all reminiscent of those "themed" exotica albums of the 50s and 60s: it develops atmospheres and borrows from diverse musical languages, without necessarily seeking to highlight one longer than another. In parallel to BVO, Adrien Durand has, in recent years, produced and recorded albums for others (Amadou et Mariam, Bagarre, Papooz). If there is one figure that comes to mind throughout listening, it would be less a particular name than a very French type of artist who, from Pierre Barouh to Michel Colombier and Hector Zazou, made their art a way of talking about the world around them or that they dreamed of.
