The Complete Budokan 1978 is composed of 58 tracks, including 36 previously unreleased onesThe Bob Dylan World Tour 1978 marked the artist's first international dates since 1966 and his first live performances since the Rolling Thunder Revue that crossed North America in 1975-76. A major international musical event, this year-long tour saw Bob Dylan give 114 concerts in Asia, Oceania, North America, and Europe, in front of an audience of two million people.The tour began in February 1978 with eleven historic performances: Dylan's very first concerts in Japan, including eight at the Nippon Budokan Hall in Tokyo. Two of the Budokan concerts - February 28 and March 1, 1978 - were recorded on 24-channel analog multitrack tape, and 22 performances taken from these concerts were released on Bob Dylan At Budokan, a 2LP box set first released by Columbia Records in November 1978 for Japan only, then in April 1979 for the rest of the world, in response to widespread demand. The Complete Budokan 1978 marks the first time that the entirety of Dylan's performances from his 1978 world tour is officially available.
