A breath of fresh air: that’s what the music of BLUES PILLS represents in 2014. But this sweet musical breeze comes from far away, very far indeed, since BLUES PILLS mixes Folk, Soul, and Rock from the 60s/70s. Take a Swedish singer, a French guitarist, an American drummer, and an American bassist, and you get BLUES PILLS. A quartet straight out of the seventies with a sound that would remind us of JIMI HENDRIX, JANIS JOPLIN, or even CREAM while nonetheless demonstrating a true personality. A character primarily due to the enchanting timbre of the charismatic singer ELIN LARSSON, who has already won the hearts of many hard/blues enthusiasts, even though BLUES PILLS has simply released an EP titled Devil Man last October. An EP with impressive maturity and groove for these kids in their twenties. Notably, the truly striking virtuosity of the young French guitarist. Between psychedelia and blues, the energy is omnipresent in BLUES PILLS. The anticipation for the band’s self-titled debut album is therefore very real.
