Perpetual Eden

Description

"Perpetual Eden" is Nottingham's Bloody Head's seventh album and their first on Wrong Speed, after LPs, EPs and cassettes for labels as esteemed as Hominid Sounds, Viral Age, At War With False Noise and Bitter Dose. Bloody Head occupy an almost unique spot in the overcrowded world of what one might call "noise rock" (if you were the sort to categorise your records by invented genres). Probably the most unpredictable and chaotic band in a city which is famous for it, gigs can be truly unsettling and messy affairs, and occasionally confrontational or even frightening as an audience member. However, rather than being a shout into the void or nihilistic anger, one gets the sense that the noise and chaos are there to make space for the revelations and epiphanies (large or small) that then happen in the space left behind, both for the band and for the audience. Picture them as a giant hand trying to sweep away existence and reveal whatever beauty remains. This album is the sharpest manifestation of the band's approach to date. The narcotic/gnostic lyrical observations are revealed as truths through the ritual of noise and repetition. It changes and it changes you. It is heavy sound used as a psychic tool of discovery.
