We remember the sublime and moving music of BLOCKHEAD from the first two albums by New Yorker Tony Simon, the mastermind behind BLOCKHEAD, released in 2004 and 2006. After his productions for AESOP ROCK and JOANNA ERDOS or other remixes for YAMEEN and CHIN CHIN, BLOCKHEAD has finally plunged into creating his best album to date, 'The Music Scene'. This time, BLOCKHEAD elevates his art to the next level...Across twelve tracks, he showcases his ever-growing production talent, so much so that he blurs the lines a bit... Of course, the downtempo groove and his funky approach are never far off - as evidenced by his excellent track, "Pity Party" - but they willingly drown in the emotional depths of his compositions.Indeed, while still built on hip-hop foundations, the typically abstract hip-hop format has sometimes been relegated to the background in favor of more complex arrangements. Like FOUR TET or RJD2, for example, BLOCKHEAD succeeds here in achieving his goal: To be able to tell a story simply through his music. As he himself says: "Each track here is crafted like a musical journey, an approach I had never taken before."However, BLOCKHEAD remains faithful to his fundamental principles; by reworking, cutting, splicing, and rearranging all his sound samples, BLOCKHEAD gives them new life... We won't stop tapping our feet... And letting ourselves be carried away by these strange melodies!
