There are elements of hardcore, punk, noise rock, heavy post-rock, and indie rock in Blessings' sound... there are moments reminiscent of At The Drive-In and others that recall Converge. The Gothenburg band merges very disparate elements from the musical spectrum, armed with their sharp riffs and great group cohesion, with a rhythm section as tight as a drum. Blessings' first album, "Bittervatten", was violent, noisy, inspired by bands like Unsane, Breach, Black Flag, and Darkthrone, but the Swedish quartet quickly evolved in a somewhat different direction. More flexible, often repetitive, the riffs are more trance-inducing and play a more prominent role on this second album, "Biskopskniven." The sound palette has been enhanced and diversified. But beware, it still hits hard! For all fans of Unsane, At The Drive-In, Converge, Breach, Darkthrone, Wovenhand, Black Flag, Swans, Trap Them and Young Widows.
