Although their origins date back to 1963, the band finally crystallized around the inimitable and charismatic leader Jim « Dandy » Mangrum, on vocals and washboard. Playing a blend of Southern rock, hard rock, and country, the band signed with ATCO Records, a subsidiary of Atlantic Records, with Rickie « Ricochet » Reynolds on guitar, Stanley « Goober » Knight on guitar and organ, Pat « Dirty » Daugherty on bass, and Wayne « Squeezebox » Evans on drums. Taking their name from their hometown of Black Oak, Arkansas (you guessed it), their first album included the singles « Hot And Nasty », « Uncle Lijiah », and « Lord Have Mercy On My Soul ».\nTheir second album on Atco, « Keep The Faith » (CD2), was released less than a year later, in January 1972. Recorded at Criteria Studios in Miami and Village Recorders in Los Angeles, the title track was released as a single.\nFor the release of their third album, « If An Angel Came to See You, Would You Make Her Feel At Home? », in June 1972, the band was joined by legendary drummer Tommy Aldridge (Whitesnake, Pat Travers, Ozzy Osbourne). This album contains the single « Full Moon Ride ».\nBOA was now established as an essential concert band across the United States; it was therefore quite logical that their fourth album would be a live recording. Recorded in December 1972 and released in February 1973, « Raunch 'N' Roll Live » (CD 4 and 5) captures the raw energy and enthusiasm of the band on stage. This double live album showcases their unique blend of hard rock, Southern rock, and boogie.","brand":"Black Oak Arkansas","offers":[{"title":"Default Title","offer_id":57475796926808,"sku":null,"price":20260828.0,"currency_code":"EUR","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0898\/4943\/0360\/files\/5013929935228.jpg?v=1780998310","url":"https:\/\/vinyles.com\/en\/products\/black-oak-arkansas_when-electricity-came-to-arkansas-vol1-1971-1973_2026_soc","provider":"Vinyles.com","version":"1.0","type":"link"}
