Sheyann is a civil rights activist, known by Martin Luther King Jr. as the 'Smallest Freedom Fighter' (8 years old). ESSENTIAL. If one had to summarize the work undertaken by the Black Lives collective in one word, that would be it. Resolutely humanist, this large, variable-sized ensemble, gathered around bassist Reggie Washington, works under the impetus of his wife Stefany Calembert to achieve a dream - a utopia, some might say - both musical and social in scope. These musicians, hailing from the United States, Africa, the Caribbean, and Europe, are united by a common language in a struggle for equality and justice. What is at stake here is the future of our societies, lost in the excesses of devouring materialism and distrust of others. Through a natural convergence of musical and cultural aesthetics - jazz, soul, funk, hip hop, blues... - what emerges is a declaration of love as well as an act of resistance. With a heart beating strongly and a fist raised high! The watchwords call for the blossoming of a unified world of peace and freedom. It is a strong belief in tomorrow. 'By uniting, by fighting, change is possible.' The strength of Black Lives is its ability to federate, and thereby transcend, the energies of seasoned artists who know how to put their talent and personality at the service of the group. Each can, in turn, take on the role of leader by offering the collective their own story, itself rich in encounters. Music has rarely offered such a beautiful spectacle of intergenerational synergy - the collective's musicians range from 30 to 70 years old - devoted to a cause that is more fundamental than ever in our troubled times, when words of hatred and racism spread at high speed, threatening to leave indelible marks on people's minds. 'One love, one world, one dream, all together.' While in its intentions 'People of Earth' follows directly in the footsteps of 'From Generation to Generation,' it is characterized by a major evolution in that, for the most part, its repertoire was composed during Black Lives' tours in Europe in 2022 and 2023. There are twenty-six in total for this album, united and eager to convey as closely as possible the power of their music, certainly filled with anger and revolt, but whose festive dimension, luminous character, and all the hope they carry must also be emphasized. This universal celebration is what should be called an achievement. Struggle, unity, freedom, and peace, a commitment perfectly illustrated by the album's artwork designed by Rebecca Meek, who also worked on 'From Generation To Generation.' We vibrate to this adventure under the effects of an underlying force evoking the idea of a communion of hearts and an elevation of spirits. 'One consciousness.' This music is beautiful, it is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful that can be conceived. But shouldn't we rather say 'these musics'? No, because we receive them as a single expression, because each composition is inhabited by the same powerful dose of humanity. A music, both multiple and unique, that transmits strong sensations. It can bring tears to your eyes, invite you to work for a better future or to raise awareness. Listen carefully to the words of Black Lives: they are warnings launched to the world, to the 'People of Earth.' The love story told by Black Lives is underway: dedicated to all the children of the world, this second stage, full of generosity and fervor, is also a promise for times to come. We are eager to experience it on stage, as close as possible to the musicians and their vibration. We also want to know what comes next, right now. ---- Denis Desassis ---.","brand":"BLACK LIVES","offers":[{"title":"Default Title","offer_id":55310364442968,"sku":null,"price":20240329.0,"currency_code":"EUR","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0898\/4943\/0360\/files\/0739988376752_5c81c24c-c397-47b1-97f8-0b0992d5b836.jpg?v=1760316962","url":"https:\/\/vinyles.com\/en\/products\/black-lives_people-of-earth-vinyl_2024_lad","provider":"Vinyles.com","version":"1.0","type":"link"}
