Scandalous

Description

Very well received in France with their first album: Tell 'Em What Your Name Is; Black Joe Lewis & the Honeybears have already played twice in Paris: Nouveau Casino and Café de la Danse, not to mention a participation in "L'album de la semaine" (Canal +), "Le fou du roi" (France Inter), a favorite of Libération and a good number of media in France. They have been scheduled at the Printemps de Bourges and have played in a few French cities. The lead singer Joe Lewis confessed to being a big soccer fan and is passionate about the French Revolution! May this new album establish them in France and allow the leader to attend a Ligue 1 match! Their new album aptly named Scandalous - produced once again by Jim Eno, in addition to his work as a drummer in the band Spoon - is a explosive cocktail of rock & roll, blues, and funk, interspersed with pure punk music. The biggest surprise of the album is undoubtedly "You Been Lyin'", a torrid exercise, politically engaged, in the purest tradition of Parliament-Funkadelic and the Temptations of the late 60s. Surprise guests on this track are the backing vocalists from Relatives, a "gospel funk" group from Dallas that produced recordings that went shamefully unnoticed about thirty years ago.
