Behind the apparent duo lies only David Moore, a gifted American pianist and composer from Kansas. With the aim of bringing his compositions to an audience beyond the academic classical scene, the young man formed Bing & Ruth in 2006, while still a student at the New School for Jazz and Contemporary Music in New York.After a few relatively low-key releases, the ensemble, oscillating between classical and ambient music in the style of Nils Frahm, Ólafur Arnalds, and Jóhann Jóhannsson, emerged from relative obscurity by signing with the refined Brooklyn label RVNG Intl. Over two albums - Tomorrow Was The Golden Age (2014) and City Lake (2015); Moore developed his orchestral vision with a large ensemble of instruments (clarinets, cellos, bass, lap-steel guitar, percussion, vocals) and established Bing & Ruth among the rising stars of ambient and neoclassical music. Now signed to the prestigious label 4AD, a new chapter opens for the minimalist ensemble.On No Home of the Mind, the composer returns to his first love: the piano. Composed on 17 pianos across North America and Europe during numerous recording sessions, tours, and travels, this new album brings together all the particularities of each instrument. Above all, it offers a true musical experience driven by a pianist in perpetual quest of exploration, subtly blending ambient sounds with a classical approach to the piano.
