Behind the apparent duo lies the only David Moore, a gifted American pianist and composer from Kansas. In order to bring the audience of his compositions beyond the academic classical stage, the young man formed Bing & Ruth in 2006, while he was still a student at the New School for Jazz and Contemporary Music in New York.
After a few rather confidential releases, the group oscillating between classical and ambient music in the style of Nils Frahm, Ólafur Arnalds, or Jóhann Jóhannsson, emerges from relative anonymity by signing with the refined Brooklyn label RVNG Intl. In two albums - Tomorrow Was The Golden Age (2014) and City Lake (2015) - Moore develops his orchestral vision with a wide array of instruments (clarinets, cellos, bass, lap-steel guitar, percussion, vocals) and establishes Bing & Ruth among the rising stars of ambient and neoclassical music. Now signed to the prestigious label 4AD, a new chapter opens for the minimalist ensemble.
On No Home of the Mind, the composer returns to his first love: the piano. Composed on 17 pianos in North America and Europe during numerous recording sessions, tours, and travels, this new album brings together all the particularities of each of the instruments. It offers above all a true musical experience led by a pianist in perpetual quest for exploration, subtly blending ambient sounds with a classical approach to the piano.
