Hailed by Nat Hentoff in Down Beat, the splendid Beverly Kenney (1932-1960) toured with the Jimmy & Tommy Dorsey’s Orchestra, worked with George Shearing, Don Elliott, Lester Young and Kai Winding, and recorded three albums between 1956 and 1960, when she tragically committed suicide by ingesting a mixture of alcohol and Seconal at the age of 28.
