Bert At the BBC is a complete collection of Jansch's appearances on the BBC, with over eight hours of rare and unreleased recordings, including live spots, studio sessions, and full concerts directly from the BBC vaults, allowing for a deeper exploration of this legendary artist's magnificent discography. Bert Jansch was the very essence of folk music, inspiring Paul Simon, Neil Young, Led Zeppelin, and countless folk revivalists.
This unparalleled limited edition compendium is available as a 4xLP and 8xCD box set, in a sumptuous 40-page coffee table book tracing the recordings from Bert's early moments at the BBC. It includes interviews and commentary from Lauren Laverne, Jools Holland, Johnny Marr, Jacqui McShee, Bob Harris, Bernard Butler, Mark Radcliffe, and many others. Twenty broadcasters, producers, and collaborators have contributed extensively to the booklet, with much affection for this gentle and nonconformist genius.
The vinyl version includes 48 tracks and comes with a download card featuring over six hours of extras covering the period 1966-2009, including the BBC4 concert at St Luke (2003) and a full concert at the Queen's Hall in Edinburgh (2004) for BBC Radio Scotland. It is also available as a special coffee table book box set of 8xCD containing the 147 tracks.
