The sublime pop-electro of the 2 young Mancunians. BERNARD + EDITH is one of the Manchester bands to watch closely, as evidenced by this new album Jem which is released on Bella Union. Intimate and melodic, the music of these two young artists reminds us of the universe of Fever Ray or David Lynch, intriguing the listener until the piece becomes even more sublime. Jem aims to be a condensed version of the influences of Greta "Edith" Carroll and Nick "Bernard" Delap, flirting with pop, electronics, and even R&B. Released at the end of 2014, the single Poppy paints this blend and makes it all the more ambitious, "together we seek to produce music that is more experimental in its composition than what we are used to listening to, like Meredith Monk or Philip Glass. It must also be said that the series Twin Peaks has had a major influence on our production work, not only the music but also the atmosphere that emanates from it."
