Benny Sings' sixth album: funk pop perfectly in tune with the times! The sunny 70s productions and 80s melodies of Dutch producer-songwriter Benny Sings could be described as intimate, lo-fi songs, in a Disney-hip-hop style. But his compositions can't just be categorized as "retro": as happy as they are sad, his songs feature R&B beats, and his wonderfully crafted productions give a particular shape to the sound, which takes us directly back to the soundtrack of an indie comedy. His first album, released in 2003, *Champagne People*, captured the attention of urban soul and hip-hop audiences worldwide. Since then, he has appeared in a Tiny Desk concert and toured the world with Mayer Hawthorne. *City Pop*, his sixth album, is released on the Stones Throw label, joining artists Jerry Paper and Mild High Club. In addition to his solo career, Benny Sings co-composed and sang alongside Rex Orange County on the track "Loving is Easy," and has collaborated, notably, with Anderson .Paak, GoldLink, and Mndsgn.
