The British Benjamin Grosvenor (2 Gramophone Awards in 2012), known for creating records as true aesthetic manifestos on the art of singing on a piano, returns with his 3rd album Homages. He chooses to interpret works that possess a notion of homage, the idea being 'to make something new with something old': Mendelssohn and Franck who turned to the prelude and fugue of which Bach was the master, Chopin and Liszt towards the Italian popular traditions. Bach's Chaconne for solo violin is, for its part, a tribute through rewriting. The pianist Ferruccio Busoni rewrites it for ten fingers and expands the acoustic perspectives.
