Initially due out on September 13th Tenor saxophone legend Ben Webster was a member of Duke Ellington's and Count Basie's orchestras before embarking on a prolific career as a bandleader in the early 1950s. 'At The Renaissance' captures Oscar Peterson and Art Tatum's former partner at the height of his powers during a performance recorded at the famous Hollywood club in October 1960, accompanied by Jimmy Rowles (piano), Jim Hall (guitar), Red Mitchell (double bass) and Frank Butler on drums. This reissue is part of the "Contemporary Records Acoustic Sounds" audiophile collection and features new analog mastering from the master tapes by Bernie Grundman, as well as the original artwork and liner notes in meticulous packaging.
